schedule for the McDonald’s African American Family Day, titled “A Family Reunion: Family - Love - Peace - Respect – Unity,” from noon to 7:00 p.m. Saturday, August 4, at the Empire State Plaza in Albany.  

 

“This event will be a true family day, celebrating the richness of African American culture,” said Commissioner Destito. “I would like to offer special thanks to our longtime sponsor, McDonald’s for bringing the community together to celebrate our cultural diversity.”

 

The traditions and contributions of the African American community are celebrated through music, art and dance featuring many family-oriented activities. The Ohio Players will deliver all their funk hits, such as "Fire," "Love Rollercoaster," "Who'd She Coo?" and "Skin Tight". Grammy winner Evelyn "Champagne" King will perform her disco favorites including "Love Come Down," "Betcha She Don't Love You" and "Shame." The Capital District Community Voices of Praise, numerous local choirs, dance groups, theater troupes, local talent contest winners and Nanny’s Double Dutch will also perform.
