Genesee Valley Greenway State Park Open for Business |

The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, and the Friends of the Genesee Valley Greenway, Inc. are pleased to announce that the Greenway is open for business as the seasons roll into fall and winter. The Genesee Valley Greenway, designated as a National Recreation Trail (NRT) by the Secretary of the Interior and the National Park Service is a 90-mile open space corridor that follows the route of the Genesee Valley Canal (1840-1878), and the Rochester Branch of the Pennsylvania Railroad (1882-1963). It extends from the Erie Canalway Trail in Rochester's Genesee Valley Park to the Village of Cuba in Allegany County. The Greenway may be used for hiking, biking, horseback riding, snowmobiling, cross country skiing and snow shoeing however motor vehicle use, including ATVs, is strictly prohibited. The Genesee Valley Greenway may also be used for events by obtaining a permit. Please call (585) 493-3614 for information on obtaining a permit or other details.
