Public Comment Hearing Scheduled for July 16 The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) extended the public comment period on CWM Chemical Services, LLC's proposal for its facility in Model City, Niagara County until September 5, the agency announced today. CWM's applications are to build and operate a new landfill to be designated as Residuals Management Unit - Two (RMU-2), and for other storage and treatment units. The proposed RMU-2 landfill and other units at CWM's existing facility will be used to dispose of and manage hazardous and industrial non-hazardous wastes. DEC, in conjunction with the Facility Siting Board, will hold two public hearings to receive unsworn comments regarding CWM’s pending permit and siting certificate applications, draft permits and DEIS. Hearings are scheduled for July 16, 2014, 1 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. at the Lewiston-Porter High School, 4061 Creek Road, Youngstown, NY 14174. Translator and interpreter services are available during the public hearings at no charge, but must be requested by July 3. To request this service in writing, contact: Daniel P.
